There is no way to get them back, unless you write new ones Which is too hard to consider doing , or with some programs you might be able to reinstall them on top of the older versions which will recreate the registry key. This might not work with larger programs like Microsoft Office. You could try the repair function in Mircosoft Office.
Information can be found HERE. If the new programs we have recently installed also do not have a remove button next to them, then you will need to reinstall your opertating system.
The most liekly cause is a registry cleaner has removed the entries from the registry. If you can tell me if this is the case, we might be able to find backups. Edited by sarahw, 10 July - AM. Hi Sarah, I did download a program called RegCure back in the day. It didn't so I had the service terminated. That is the only possible Registry cleaner that I can think of. And the only time I ever touched regedit was when I used that program winxptutor. Other than that, I am at a loss if I ever unintentionally did anything to mess with the reg editor.
Please advise if RegCure would do anything. Hi Jennifer, This page can tell you how to restore backups from RegCure. If you have uninstalled it, this might not work. Personally I have never used a registry cleaner, they are more trouble than they are worth. Click Help , then Detect and Repair. It actually meant reinstall the program with exactly the same components that were installed first time.
As for remove option, it uninstalls the software from your system. If you see NoRemove with the data 0x 1 , that means the remove button will be unavailable. If you also see NoModify with the data 0x 1 , that means the change button will be unavailable.
Simply double click on the NoRemove or NoModify name and change the value data to 0 number zero. If Add or Remove Programs is open, close it and reopen again.
One of the most common software or driver that the Change or Remove button is missing is Intel Audio Studio. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Use extreme caution when you perform either of these tasks. Locate the key to be deleted by locating the key name created by the program. If the name of the key is not apparent, browse through each key and note the value for DisplayName.
