So I purchased the 5Spurs start button. I saw the install video and it 'seems' pretty straight forward. Those of you that have installed a new start button, are there any tips or techniques you want to share? I don't want to F anything up. I replaced mine and used a small flat head screw driver I had 1 for glasses , wrapped it in Teflon tape and, wedged in the corner and popped out the existing button. You'll probably have to do this in a couple places to loosen.

Then popped on the new one. It took 5 mins and there was no damage at all to the surrounding area. I did make 1 mistake though, I had my key in my pocket and turned the power on in the car a couple times.

Pretty slick and I had custom lettering on mine, so it personalized the button to my car. Vlad Soare Well-Known Member. Rule no. Removing the old button is easy and goes exactly as shown in the video.

Installing the new one takes a bit of patience, because it's so precisely cut that perfect alignment is paramount. It will not click fully into place unless the hole is absolutely perfectly aligned with the LED - which will take several attempts.

All good information from everyone. Much appreciated. I will attempt it this weekend and all should go well. Kermitz Well-Known Member. Mask off the area around the button with painters masking tape, so you don't slip and scratch the dash. Then use a small pick. Sometimes it may feel like the button has clicked into place even though it actually hasn't.
