According to the IRS , filing status impacts the calculation of income tax, affects the amount of the standard deduction, and determines allowance or limitation of certain credits and deductions.
The following list puts the filing statuses in order from the most beneficial to the least beneficial to the taxpayer. It is very important to select the correct filing status when filing your individual tax return. Many tax credits, deductions, and the amount of taxes paid are dependent upon the filing status selected. At times, more than one filing status may apply to you. In this case you should work with your Tax Advisor to figure out which status is best for you.
A tax deduction works by totaling your deductions and subtracting them from your adjusted gross income or AGI. No changes in address, bank, name, or deductions from previous year.
This is very frustrating! I feel like we all deserve some sort of compensation!!!! I already pay a ton in taxes each year. But come on Uncle Sam!! I feel you Sis! We need our money and it is ridiculous that we have to wait so many weeks for them to get their stuff together. This is happening to me too. I called and got through, rep said its weeks with topic Im not going to call again, it was extremely hard to get through anyway.
What number did you dial. How did you reach a person? I have been trying to reach a person and I essentially get the same info on the website and hung up on by a recording. I have called 50 times at least, and have only been able to get through once 2 weeks ago.
Just call the …. I got through when I called in the afternoon. Call Hit prompts in order even if they seem wrong. I got this from irs person. Thank you for the info for the topic. Mine says the same thing. No update and I am at a loss — we have never experienced this. I keep thinking I should just re-file….
My husband and I filed our taxes on January 30th and they were accepted on Feb. One week ago, a rep. Four days ago, a rep. Two days ago, we were told it is STILL in processing and they do not have any idea of a timeframe of when we will receive the refund. So no rush there with any of them. We have 4 small children and this is beyond ridiculous. We have filed taxes for the past 9 years, and normally have our refund by the third week of February to the first week of March.
I have never waited this long. The irritating and frustrating part is constantly being told by reps. I have still yet to be able to get a hold of a rep. What number are you calling to reach a live person.
I can never get through to a human and that is adding to my frustration. I was expecting my refund back in March and here it is May and no information. My mother was one that lost her life due to this awful virus on December 9, I imagine that you have already received yours. Have patience you say? That ran out well before tax season.
Hello my name Octavia I started filling my taxes the second week of February 13 got approved. Been more than 21 days still waiting. Same here. Filed Feb 12, accepted Feb Bars have disappeared. Calling the number does not help. Says call back even at 7 AM. My daughters all filed the same day and got theirs back within 2 weeks. The only dependent I claimed this year was my 16 year old son.
This is so frustrating. There is no reason not to have the return paid yet. How is it our fault that these people want to file taxes because they can get a stimulus check!?!!?!
I agree with other poster who states IRS always has to get their money and interest right away, we should get ours just the same. I still have no word of any kind. I spend hours of each day running around the same pointless circle. No stimulus no return. Been accepted since February 13th I hate this. Never had I imagined being so helpless feeling financially.
This number is no longer accepting calls either. I need to talk to an agent. Nope, all I get all day is a recording that says call volume is too high please try again…then it hangs up. Great news!!! I checked 2 days ago and nothing and now today it shows approved. After reading many comments seems like early filers are having issues..
I did have my return reviewed last year and it was almost 4 months before I received my refund. SC updates every Wednesday and usually is within 2 days of Fed DD, consistent with my returns in the past. Absolutely incompetent! How are we supposed to ever trust them again after this??! I filed Jan 28, Accepted Feb 11, Had 1 bar for about a week and then it disappeared and states return is still being processed.
I never had a tax topic. Received a ID verify letter 2 weeks ago and verified online. Filed February 12th, Accepted February 13th. So here it is march 28th.
Tired of this crap.
